The Grampians

The western part of the Cairngorms seen from Carn na Drochaide above Glen Clunie (not the better known Carn na Drochaide above Glen Quoich - an O.S. mistake perhaps). In the centre you are looking at, above Glen Luie, the great Garbh Choire of Braeriach. To its left is Cairntoul, on the right is the massive bulk of Ben MacDuie. In front of this the distinctive cone of Derry Cairngorm stands above Glen Derry, with Ben Mheadhoin beyond on the far right.

The part of the Cairngorms I have rather arbitrarily chosen to restrict myself to is that E of the Lairig Ghru, S of the summits of Ben Macdui and Beinn Mheadhoin, and all of Beinn a'Bhuird and Ben Avon and the possible approaches to them. The rest is more easily ascended from Speyside although not necessarily more enjoyably. So this includes approaches from the glens of Dee, Lui, Quoich, an t'Slugain, Gairn and (cheating a bit) Avon. Not all of these are covered here yet, but I still have lots more photos to scan, etc. so watch this space!
